Stocking the shelves for Starving Artists…
How many of you artsy types have the book “Licensing for Dummies” on your book shelf or coffee table – collecting dust? Since the beginning of recognized artistic talent there has been a separation between the artistry and realized business profitability. Artists across the country produce some of the most beautiful and exciting work product; and more often than not their efforts are rarely seen by anybody but a select few of their closest friends and family.
Converting an art image or piece of artistic work into a product requires
Capital, Production Infrastructure, Marketing, Sales Support &
Distribution.
(Yuk - we hate big words.)
Honestly, we don't know many artists who have these resources available, much less the funds to be able to tap into them. Because of that, many artists are not able to profit from their efforts and end up abandoning their passion in favor of more traditional nine to five j-o-bs.
That’s where Yellow Llama comes in.
We’ve teamed up and created a way for all you brilliant (yet still starving) artists to get your artwork off the shelves and into the marketplace.
Here’s what we did:
We created an interactive website, kind of like a secure art gallery accessible from the comfort of your own home, for you to showcase your talents. We help you market your works by linking to all your social networks, email lists, friends, family and the public…
After that we added products to the line-up. While we recognize that selling your original artwork is valuable, we know that it is so much cooler to actually SEE your artwork around town…like on t-shirts, your insurance agent’s coffee mug, beach tote bags etc. So we put those items on your site for people to customize with your artwork…and you make money on each sale. This eliminates down your upfront cost – because you don’t have any!
There is no stocking, shipping or accounting work on
your behalf. You focus on your art work, we focus
on the rest.
The wildly successful result of our genius (we’re trying to be humble, but hey…) is the www.yellowllama.com website model. We’re stocking the pantries of starving artists with a simple, zero effort means of broadcasting your work to the masses. You're free bonus: it's a bullet-proof secure arena for you to upload your art to without the fear of having it stolen!
It doesn’t matter if you’re a cartoonist, fine art student, doodler, photographer or sculpter…
Yellow Llama is here to support you.
Here’s how it might work if you went at this on your own:
* Original Art
* Production
* Marketing
* Sales
* Distribution
At the beginning, it looks like a great opportunity. But with each step of the process you lose more and more revenue. With each step you add more complicated and stressful issues and ultimately end up eating Ramen noodles
for breakfast, lunch and dinner without having gotten any further than showing Aunt Bernice the cool coaster that you glued your artwork to.
Here’s how it looks with us:
* Original Art
* Paycheck
Put the magnifying glass away, there is no fine print.
**Nope, not even hidden in the small white space in between – we’re not the Treasury Dept here, we’re big-hearted folk who like being nice!
Seriously…you do what you do (that artistic thing) then upload it to your gallery and bada-boom, bada-bang we Tweet it, Status it, or otherwise Share it with all your social networks. Now anyone who visits your site can choose a piece of your artwork, print it on any one of our Yellow Llama product platforms and show it off to the world.
Just imagine the project you did for class last week can now be a sweat suit, a T-shirt, coffee mug, mouse pad, a coaster, clock face or a wall hanging that any member of your family, friends or social network can select from your catalog
of images. www.yellowllama.com does the production, packaging, payment processing, packaging and shipping of the finished product directly to the
purchaser then sends you a commission check.
It's that simple!
Never before has it been this easy to turn your artistic work into income. You're doing the work anyway, why not get paid for it? Supplement your car note, pay for school books, make the shortfall on this months’ rent, or buy new art supplies to continue producing great new works!
With www.yellowllama.com this is all possible.
BTW – We’re not done exploiting your raw talent!
With www.yellowllama.com your works are also marketed to commercial producers across the world.
This works in two ways:
1. Your images gallery becomes the on-line hotspot for original artwork. Commercial users select your images to produce greeting cards, book covers, photo frame display pictures, whatever…but they purchase them from
www.yellowllama.com under a Limited License agreement which is then monitored by the dedicated staff here at Yellow Llama. Revenues from these agreements are paid to you through us.
2. Another opportunity to shamelessly plug yourself is by submitting your "category appropriate" artwork for placement consideration into one of our Premium Art Galleries. Why would you want your artwork in a Premium Gallery?
(Well the name makes it sound official, but otherwise...) When we accept your artwork our in-store Llamatists will print it and hang it in the front window to attract customers! We'll even lease your images to third parties who love them.
This is just one more zero effort way for the starving artist to feast!
The bread and butter, aka “Show Me the Money”
How You Make $$$ on Your Artwork:
Here’s the split: 95% Us/5% You. JUST KIDDING! We’re not here to rip you off. Any revenue from images selected for purchase on your public/private gallery will be split with you at a 65% You/35% Us ratio. You can hug us later!
Here’s the split on a Premium Gallery: 70% You/30% Us.
So, the money here is made on your image. There are no products involved, image only…you pickin’ up what I’m layin’ down?
How You Make $$$ on Your Artwork Printed on Our Stuff:
Commissions on product sold through www.yellowllama.com are calculated at a rate of 5% of the published product price only. Commissions are not paid on the portion of the sale that is attributable to art, shipping or taxes. Get it?
This is a lot to remember, which is why we wrote it down here so we could just let you read it...but if you have any questions at all just call us or stop by. We don't bite and we try not to spit...get it, we're Llama's. (This is where you laugh at our cheezy joke.)
